Scanning Materials to Students

Please note that in order to assign test booklets to students, your test booklets must be scanned into your TestHound inventory. Scanning test booklets into the TestHound inventory will be covered on the Campus Inventory help tab page.

There are three ways that test booklets can be scanned for students:

  • By Student

  • By room

  • Autoscan

See tabs below for specific instructions regarding each.

Click in the Barcode field next to the first student’s name on the list and begin scanning the barcode on the back of the test booklets. Repeat this process until all students have a test booklet assigned.

The next method for scanning test booklets for students is to first select a room from the Rooms table by clicking on a room number. Your view will then be filtered by the room you selected. You can then scan booklets to students one room at a time. Click in the Barcode field next to the first student’s name on the list and begin scanning the barcode on the back of the test booklets. On this screen, you can also scan a test booklet for a teacher if needed. Once you have completed scanning in test booklets for the room, you will click the Close Room View button and then select a new room.

To facilitate faster scanning of test booklets, you may select  AutoScan.

With the AutoScan feature, you can assign booklets to Students in a Specific Room sequentially by scanning the first booklet in the required sequence of materials.

First, select a room from the Rooms table by clicking on a room number. Your view will then be filtered by the room you selected. To initiate the AutoScan feature, click Booklets in the Toolbar at the top of the list of students.

You will see an Auto Scan pop-up box.  This box will reflect the room number currently associated with the Auto Scan feature.  Click in the Barcode field titled Scan here... and scan the barcode on the back of the first test booklet you will assign.  After scanning in the barcode on the back of the first test booklet, TestHound will automatically assign a test booklet to each student sequentially.

Note:  When using AutoScan, TestHound is unable to capture the 10th digit of the booklet barcodes.  If you need to see that digit on the Master Materials and Material Control report, you will need to scan booklets individually.

When working in Multi-Session Scheduling, to remove an assigned test booklet number from a student, place the cursor at the end of the booklet number in the barcode field and use the backspace key to delete the booklet number. Next, you must press the Enter key to save the change.
