PowerSchool Districts - Semester Change

Have you started a new semester? Update Pathways to match! We do not automatically move all districts to the next semester due to individual calendars - you can take care of this quickly and easily within Pathways (see below).

 

Step 1: Set Power School Grading Periods

  • Utilities – District Settings – PowerSchool: Setting Grading Periods (top left)

  • You will need to denote which terms are considered Current, Past, and Ignore. Make sure to select "Save Changes" when you're done.

    • CURRENT or FUTURE - The only terms that should be labeled as "Current or Future" should be terms for this school year. You may need to change designations to Historic after a particular term has completed. You may also need to denote some current terms as both Current and Historic depending on how your classes are configured. For example, a student may complete a 9-week driver's education class within an 18-week semester. In this case, this semester might need to draw on both the Current and Past grades

    • PAST - Any term with completed grades should be marked as Past. This will include most terms from previous years and could include some terms from the current school year.

    • IGNORE - Some terms may not have any grades in them, or the terms may be older than you draw grades from. To speed up the import process it is beneficial to denote these as Ignore. See example below.

Step 2: Set Current & Future Semester

  • Utilities - District Settings - Select Current Semester

  • Choose the correct current and future semester. Make sure to save!

Step 3: Enter a support ticket to request a data refresh

  • Support - Create Support Ticket

  • Feel free to copy and paste this verbiage - “PowerSchool Terms have been updated, data exchange needed”
