The state of Texas requires all students to choose a program of study upon entering high school. This includes selecting one of the five Endorsements in addition to a more specific pathway of courses to complete before graduation. Click here to download the updated CTE Programs of Study Crosswalk.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses are assigned to a nation-wide list of Career Clusters, each with its own varied list of career pathways or groups of occupations that require similar knowledge or skill sets. In the state of Texas, those career pathways are referred to as Programs of Study, and their alignment with approved Career Clusters is shown in the image below. Should a student complete all the State’s requirements, including specific, leveled coursework sequences and Industry-Based Certifications, that student would be eligible to receive and Endorsement designation on their high school diploma.
