How to Assign a PD Task from the Observation Module

How to Assign a Professional Development Task from the Observation Module

Evaluators can assign Professional Development (PD) tasks directly from the Observation module. This allows you to connect observations with targeted learning activities for staff.

Note: this feature must be enabled for your district


Step 1: Open the Observation Module

  • Navigate to the Observation Module for the desired staff member.

  • You may open an observation that is in progress or completed.


Step 2: Create a New PD Task

  1. Click the Manager tab.

  2. Under Associated Professional Development Tasks, click Create New PD Task.

    • This opens the Professional Development Task Editor.

Step 3: Select a Professional Development Activity

  1. In the editor, go to Targeted Professional Development Activities.

  2. From the dropdown, select Professional Development Library.

  3. The Resource List modal will appear.

    • Search by keyword, domain, or indicator to locate a PD activity.

  4. Click Select this activity next to the resource you want to assign.

Step 4: Optionally Customize the PD Task

  • Modify the Title

  • Enter Completion Date

  • Enter Task/Goal Description

  • Add Professional Development Category and Hours Information

  • Attach any files or links as needed

  • Select Rubric Focus Areas


Step 5: Save and Assign

  • Choose Save as Draft if you want to finalize later.

  • Choose Save and Send to immediately assign the PD Task to the staff member.


Step 6: Review the Task

  • The PD Task will display in the Manager tab of the observation.

  • You can also review the PD Task from the staff member’s profile.
